Sunday Recap June 28

MAKING LIFE EASIER - From Chaos to Calm

Matthew 11:28-30 (New International Version)

28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Where I Live (Culture) + Who I Am (Character) = How I Live (Chaos or Not Chaos)

Christ's Presence is where PEACE is.

We get stuck in Chaos Mode because we want to be loved.

Moving from chaos to calm...
1. Check the sustainability of your pace.
2. MOve your life toward God's values.
3. What is 1 thing you will do to simplify your life this week?

Congratulations!

to Clay and Christy Allen.
Litle Caleb Jody Allen was dedicated last Sunday :-)
We pray for God's grace and wisdom as you raise your son to know God.

Sunday Recap June 7

THE BEAUTY OF REDEMPTION

Isaiah 41:18
I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys.
I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs.

Matthew 1:5,6 & 16
Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of King David.
David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah's wife, and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

Psalm 27:1-4
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.
3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident.
4 One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.

1 Chronicles 17:6-10
6 Wherever I have moved with all the Israelites, did I ever say to any of their leaders whom I commanded to shepherd my people, "Why have you not built me a house of cedar?" '
7 "Now then, tell my servant David, 'This is what the LORD Almighty says: I took you from the pasture and from following the flock, to be ruler over my people Israel.
8 I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name like the names of the greatest men of the earth.
9 And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginning
10 and have done ever since the time I appointed leaders over my people Israel. I will also subdue all your enemies. I declare to you that the LORD will build a house for you:

Sunday Recap May 31

1 Corinthians 13 from "The Message"

If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. 2If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. 3 -7If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

8 -10Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled.

11When I was an infant at my mother's breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good.

12We don't yet see things clearly. We're squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won't be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We'll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!

13But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.

Sunday Recap April 19

Don't Blow This Crisis
"What's Left?"

1. We live in an illusion that everything will always go the way we intend it to go.

2. What do we have left when "what we thought we could stand on" is gone?

3. When we're at a loss, we somehow discover that God is there.

4. Does God care?
BIBLE VERSES

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. James 1: 2&3 NIV

12Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. 13But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. 1 Peter 4:12 & 13 NIV

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 1 Corinthians 4: 17 NIV

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21:4

Read the account of Joseph's life beginning in Genesis 39.

Sunday Recap

LUKE 18
The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector

9To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable: 10"Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.'

13"But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'

14"I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

Rhythm 4

The Bonus Question is...

What may interfere with the rhythm of the Spirit in your life more than anything else?

The answer is...

SMUGGNESS
(an attitude of SUPERIORITY)

1. To look down on someone is not just to recognize that they have flaws...it is to hold them in contempt. Definition of contempt = a lack of respect accompanied by a feeling of intense dislike.

2. Jesus gets intense because when it coms to superiority we are dealing with a problem that is hard to recognize in ourselves.

3. You can aim to love or you can aim to impress, but you can't do both.

4. How would you answer the question ..."How is your spiritual life going?"
